Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians is transnational (Ukraine and Slovak) composite nature site, which includes ten separate massifs located along the 185 km (115 mi) long axis. It covers a total area of 77,971.6 ha (192,672 acres).
Over 70% of the site is located in Ukraine: Stužica – Užok massif, which is situated in Uzhanski National Nature Park and massifs Chornohora, Uholka – Shyrikyi Luh, Svydovets, Maramarosh and Kuziy – Trybushany, which belong to Carpathian Biosphere Reserve (part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves of UNESCO).
