Odessa Scientific Library is one of the best examples of library architecture in the country and the most elegant building of this type in the city. Architect Fedor Nesturkh managed to create not just his best project, but a masterpiece of architecture of early XX century. It has a status of architectural monument of national importance.
Large octagonal antechamber with dome and round lantern is two floors high. On the second floor there is a gallery bypass, supported by marble columns. The dome is decorated with paintings, recreated in our times. One of the main lobby and antechamber decorations is well preserved tile. The building retained many original elements – from marble staircase with wrought iron railings in an eclectic style and air grilles to windows and furniture.
